Velocity = Social media = The algorithm setting the pace.
I catch myself falling
into this trap on social media more often than I’d like, that is reacting
faster than reflecting and I’m sure I’m not alone.
Scrolling. A post appears at the top of the feed and catches your eye. You
click Like. Another post follows. And another.
Yet, if I’m honest, when was the last time I truly stopped to think about one
of those posts I "liked" while sitting in the métro on my way to
work?
When was the last time a post genuinely held my attention, felt original, made
me reflect, or left me with new insight? To be honest, some did for several
different reasons: true sincerity, real experts, not "mainstream",
brought a fresh inspiration and perspective and not the last of one hundred
posts on the same topic in the space of 24 hours. Nothing original!
Food for thought:
Are we still cultivating and sharing original ideas and real experience on
social platforms or simply pleasing and reacting to the speed the algorithm
sets?🤫
